claudia and pilate - pencil

just a sketch so far.

i was in a class on women in the world of the new testament, and i couldn't help but think about pilate's wife, as there are a lot of old legends about her becoming a christian...anyway the figures of both pilate and claudia have always interested me. also, roman governors are surprisingly fun to draw. enjoy

anyway here's them being all cute and stuff. i don't know, he looks kind of exhausted to me. all strung out from his job?

ps - everyone should read pontius pilate by ann wroe. pretty much the best biography i've ever read. for serious. it's awesome.
